Forest Fire Rhodactis Mushroom (Rhodactis spp.)

​True to its name, this highly sought-after mushroom coral features a striking, textured surface that looks like a glowing ember. It typically boasts a fiery red or vibrant orange base, contrasted beautifully by neon green or icy blue highlights that absolutely pop under actinic lighting. Because of its fleshy, bubble-like texture, it adds fantastic visual depth and a dynamic look to your aquascape.

​Quick Care Guide:

​Care Level: Very Easy. This is a brilliant beginner coral that is highly forgiving of minor water parameter swings.

​Temperament: Semi-aggressive. While they don't have sweeping stinger tentacles, they will slowly expand and can shade or irritate other corals nearby. Give them a little room to grow!

​Placement: Bottom to Middle. They love a nice piece of rock rubble on the sandbed or a lower shelf on your main rockwork.

​Lighting: Low to Moderate. If the light is too intense, they will shrink up or lose their vivid colouration. Keep them lower in the tank for the best "forest fire" glow.

​Water Flow: Low to Gentle. ⚠️ Important: They need just enough flow to keep detritus from settling on them. If the flow is too strong, the mushroom will detach itself from its frag plug and float around your tank looking for a calmer spot!

​Feeding: Fully photosynthetic, so they make their own food from your reef lights. However, they will grow much faster and split more frequently if you occasionally target feed them with meaty foods like mysis shrimp or specialized coral pellets.
