​While standard mushroom corals have a smooth surface, the Rhodactis family is famous for its heavily textured, fuzzy, and bubble-covered flesh. This unique structure gives the coral a much meatier, 3D appearance on your rockwork. ​Quick Care Guide:

​Care Level: Very Easy. Practically bulletproof and highly tolerant of minor parameter swings, making it an incredible choice for newer reefers.

​Temperament: Semi-Aggressive. While they don't deploy sweeper tentacles, they do carry a mild sting and will naturally expand and multiply over the rockwork. Be sure to leave a little space between them and your more sensitive stony corals.

​Placement: Bottom to Middle. They do best attached to a piece of rubble on the sandbed or placed on the lower, shaded ledges of your main aquascape where they can slowly establish a colony.

​Lighting: Low to Moderate. These mushrooms do not appreciate being blasted with intense, high-end LEDs. If they start reaching upwards like an umbrella, they need a bit more light; if they shrink, pale, or turn translucent, they are getting too much.

​Water Flow: Low to Moderate. They prefer a gentle, lazy current to keep detritus from settling in their fuzzy texture. If the flow is too strong or direct, they will become highly stressed, detach from their rock, and float away into the water column.

​Feeding: Not Required, but Appreciated. They are fully photosynthetic and draw most of their energy from your reef lights. However, because of their textured surface, Rhodactis are excellent at capturing food. Gently target-feeding them with meaty foods like Mysis shrimp or high-quality coral powder will massively accelerate their growth and reproduction rates.
